Advanced Technology

Cone Beam Computed tomography  (CBCT)

Our practice utilizes state-of-the-art, small volume cone-beam CT (computed tomography) technology that provides a digital tomographic view of the patient’s area of interest.  A traditional x-ray is only two dimensional.  With CBCT technology the doctor is able to obtain a full 360 degree view of the tooth and all surrounding areas allowing for a more thorough and precise diagnosis and treatment.

CBCT technology provides nearly limitless views of the teeth while using less radiation than a traditional medical CT technology.  This new technology is fast, simple and convenient, providing benefits that were unavailable only a few years ago.

With the addition of cone-beam CT technology to our office, our practice is committed to providing innovative, high-quality, patient care.

Digital  X-Ray

Vermont Endodontics carefully chooses which and when X-rays are taken.  We utilize a low radiation digital x-ray system which reduces the amount of radiation needed as compared to traditional film x-rays.

The improved diagnostic capability of digital x-rays and the ability to view the x-rays on a computer screen allow the patient to better understand and follow treatment.  Digital x-rays are instant, so there is no longer a need to develop the film.  It is also a very green technology.  By eliminating film, developer and chemical waste, digital x-rays are better for both the patient and the environment.

Digital imaging allows us to store patient images, and enables us to quickly and easily transfer them to specialists or insurance companies.

Surgical Microscopes and imaging

The use of specialized operating microscopes greatly enhances the precision and efficiency of each endodontic procedure by allowing a magnified and illuminated view of the root canal anatomy during all phases of treatment.  The additional magnification and illumination also allows for the identification of small details such as calcified canals and fractures.  Use of the surgical microscope allows for more accurate diagnosis and treatment and improves the potential outcome of treatment from “good” to “excellent”.

Our success depends on us being able to see the minutest of details – you cannot treat what you cannot see.  Our surgical microscopes are equipped with high resolution digital photography allowing us to record our procedures for communication and documentation for patients and their referring dentists.

Electronic medical records  (EMR)

Using Electronic Medical Records, our practice is able to quickly and accurately access patient information in order to provide the utmost in patient care.  This helps to ensure patient confidentiality as well as reduce the need for paper.  Using a digital format allows for quick access to patient information when needed for insurance records while providing a secure filling system.

ultra quiet electric handpieces

These handpieces provide less vibration and noise than traditional dental drills.  Not only are they quieter, but also more efficient in tooth preparation making dental procedures shorter and more manageable.

digital intraoral cameras

An intraoral camera combines the latest video technologies with dental care.  Both the patient and dentist can see detailed images of the teeth and mouth in real time.  With an intraoral acmera, patients are able to better understand what is happening in the mouth and review the status of their oral health.

ultrasonic handpieces

Ultrasonic instruments use ultrasonic energy during endodontic procedures to allow greater precision and accuracy.  They help in locating canals, removing obstructions from canals and increase the action of irrigating solutions to remove bacteria.
